The bank was established as a closed joint stock company under the name Midland Armenia Bank J.S.C. in 1996 and was renamed HSBC Bank Armenia cjsc in 1999.
License N67 of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia.

The bank is the member of SWIFT and Bankmail payment systems.
The bank is a joint venture between the HSBC Group, which has 70 per cent ownership, and members of overseas Armenian businesses with 30 per cent ownership.
The bank has 9 offices in Yerevan and serves around 29,000 customers.
As of December 31, 2017 bank had 407 employees.
As of December 31, 2018, the total capital of the bank is AMD 39,555,707 thousand, assets – AMD 196,001,418 thousand, liabilities – AMD 156,445,711 thousand.
